Strategies that folks can utilize when feeling stressed and looking for ways to cope with those feelings. Please remember not to judge certain coping strategies as “good or bad” but to explore ways of coping that are safe and manageable.
Practice to acknowledge grief/loss; building strategies towards accepting what was lost in so that we can move toward healing. Loss does not need to be loss of life but can include loss of relationships, circumstances, identity, dreams etc.
Defining and discussing what Trauma is and how it can impact one’s brain and mental health.
How our body and minds respond to Trauma specifically through the 3 F’s.
Exploring what a trigger is, how to identify triggers and how might we manage them.
Exploring self-compassion as well as the importance of self-care so that we can develop intentional strategies and practices for overall individual well-being.
Recognizing and identifying our own capacities; being aware of our needs and emotions; understanding our own behavioral and emotional responses to the world
Ways in which we can regulate our emotions and feelings as well developing ways to express how we feel in a healthy manner.
Use of social media; safety in using social media, appropriateness of content, online community safety; consequences of our posts and interactions on social media
What community safety could look like for young folks; strategies for how to keep safe within our communities
This wellness workshop aspires to increase your self awareness about your needs, as well as improve self care and self compassion. It will involve interactive and creative activities.
Discussing how to search for helpful resources in the community that people can access; accessible features (culturally specific, age specific, gender specific, etc.); how to develop networking skills in navigating the community and resources; how to advocate for yourself and find what you need.
